Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Finance, Film & TV, the Manager of Strategy and Finance leverages his/her industry experience and knowledge of the ever-changing landscape with a balance of both analytical and creative thinking. They will have a working knowledge of the independent film landscape, a deep experience in financial planning and analysis, and a passion for finding innovative and groundbreaking new ways to grow our business.


As Film and TV continues to build out its financial reporting and accounting infrastructure, responsibilities will include real-time performance analyses across all verticals of content, supporting the budgeting process as well as by-title performance tracking against fiscal year forecasts on a both a revenue and cost basis.


This role participates actively into all areas of the Film and TV business.


  • Manage the assembly and tracking of all components of revenue for the Film & TV business across all content verticals, including theatrical release titles and digital release titles. This includes working closely with individual stakeholders across each business line to ensure complete understanding of current and upcoming revenue.
  • Drive tracking of expenditures across the business with bi-weekly reporting of those spends as well as maintain a reconciliation process on a title-by-title basis. Liaise with Legal and other teams on an as-needed basis to understand timing of advance-related cash outflows on both a short and long-term basis. Research and report expense issues and drive their resolution.
  • Real-time track total expected performance for titles. Prepare a monthly review of larger titles with a particular emphasis of current vs. approved performance.
  • Assist with implementation of PO system roll-out with focus on first line problem resolution with the stakeholders. Work to incorporate PO system output into regularly scheduled meeting with stakeholders to review spending.
  • Provide analytical support for Client Management team with the ability to raise larger issues on a timely basis to ensure prompt resolution.  Work may include direct communication with clients as coordinated by the Sr. Director of Client Management.
  • Provide exceptionally strong Excel modeling skills to refine current revenue accrual process and work to systemically improve short and long-term forecasting methodology. Ability to dynamically react to industry-driven changes.
  • Work with Acquisitions team on adhoc basis for straightforward acquisition assistance.
  • Provide analytical help for Sales and Marketing team on an as-needed basis to support customer relationships and business expansion.
  • Drive reconciliation of film performance in new “transparency” initiative to results as reported by the Accounting team.
  • Work with Sony audit and Finance teams to ensure the correct accounting policy is implemented across all of the impacted documents and procedures.
  • Provide adhoc analytic support for Business Development team. This may include invoice generation and / or follow-up
  • Work with Business Development and Finance teams to set up new stores as additional relationships are formed. This includes all aspects of tracking implementation accrual set-up with Finance.
  • Using various systems, provide comps and other analytical support to Director for assessment of film acquisitions.
  • Support Legal team with the real-time and dynamic tracking of various “triggered” events causing incremental revenue or additional costs assessed for various films in our portfolio.
  • Work with Director providing analytical and data-mining backed information to support / not-support various proposed revenue generating initiatives (i.e., a price decrease for a certain genre at a certain time of year, etc.)
  • Assemble quarterly business review documents for each of the business department leaders that is both comprehensive and easy to follow while showing actionable items required to meet year-end budgeted amounts.
  • Support Director in the creation of and / or the updating of various documents used in reporting out performance to Senior Management.


  • 3-4 years of experience in financial planning and / or M&A at a major media company, independent film distribution company, or investment bank
  • Highly advanced excel, analytical, and data management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize data-heavy information into an easily presentable format in a timely manner.
  • Specific knowledge and experience as well as passion for the indie film space; its windows and players, as well as the digital/ancillary windows of distribution.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to think outside the box, and a hunger to work in an environment where testing, learning, failing and recovering are all pre-requisites to success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate externally with partners and internally with stakeholders across all departments.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
